Consumer confidence index

At the end of 2006, the Consumer Confidence Index has averaged 113.56 points (on a scale of 0 to 200) in the Republic of Moldova. This value, 13.56 points over the threshold of one-hundred, demonstrates that the countrys population anticipates a current financial stability through the prism of the perturbations occurring in the national economy. The inhabitants of the municipality of Bălţi have turned out to be the most optimistic ones in their estimations; their confidence index has reached 151.52 points, well above the country average. Such optimism has been generated by the estimation of a high level of current personal well-being by the respondents of that locality, of optimistic expectations for the future (both at the personal level and for the economy on the whole).
